Clay Travis Blasts Colin Kaepernick For His 'Abolish the Police' Tweet

Clay Travis Blasts Colin Kaepernick For His 'Abolish the Police' Tweet
Clay Travis: “ESPN has way more many Twitter followers than Colin Kaepernick... They share a Colin Kaepernick statement that says that ‘police is a white supremacist institution that must be abolished for the safety and wellbeing of our people.’ Within an hour of Colin Kaepernick and ESPN sharing this two police officers in Louisville get shot. That is directly connected. ESPN has 35.8 million followers. They took what Colin Kaepernick said ‘abolish the police’, which can be taken literally by some people as an ‘I’m going to ABOLISH you, I’m going to shoot you, I’m going to wipe you off the planet.’ It’s an opinion that almost no one has. Something like 85% of inner city residents don’t believe in abolishing the police. Colin Kaepernick doesn’t live in the inner city, he isn’t in danger, and he’s super rich. When you say ‘abolish the police’ what you are saying is actually ‘Black lives don’t matter’ because no one protects more Black lives, and White lives, and Asian lives, and Hispanic lives than the police. I’m fired up by the idea that anyone with a functional brain could think that the solution to violence in this country is eliminating the people who stop it from happening. Who are you going to call when something bad happens to you at your house? You gonna call a community organizer? This is lunacy, and anyone who is arguing to abolish the police doesn’t have a functional brain, or they’re seeking to sow division and destruction in this country. We have to call out stupidity. Instead, ESPN is directly sharing with 36 million of their followers an idea that I believe is directly connected to cops being shot who are doing nothing other than trying to protect people… Cops will tell you that their lives have never been more in danger than right now. Police shootings are up 40%, and people are being killed like crazy who are police officers. They are being shot and they are being disrespected at a level that has never occurred in this country’s history, and sports leagues are a big reason why that’s happening. The fact that people in my industry won’t speak out and back police officers is a big reason why it’s happening.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Clay Travis rip ESPN for sharing Colin Kaepernick’s ‘#AbolishThePolice’ tweet on the heels of a grand jury in Kentucky indicting only one of the police officers involved in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor.

Check out the segment above as Clay details why tweets like Kaepernick’s only cause more violence in this country and why he thinks it’s wrong and outright dangerous for media organizations, especially ones with the massive outreach of ESPN, to spread anti-police rhetoric.
