James Harden's Season Debut In Doubt As Team Probes Strip Club Video

When the Houston Rockets kick off their season against the Oklahoma Thunder on Wednesday (December 23) night, they may be without their best player. The NBA is investigating a video that shows James Harden partying at a strip club without a mask on.

Under the NBA's COVID-19 protocols, players are prohibited from going to bars and clubs and attending social gatherings of more than 15 people.

The video was purportedly filmed during a Christmas party at a Houston Strip club earlier in the week. If the league determines that Harden violated the COVID-19 protocols, he could be suspended.

Harden has already been in trouble for violating the rules. He previously demanded a trade from the Rockets and refused to show up for training camp. During his brief holdout, Harden attended rapper Lil Baby's birthday party in Atlanta and spent time partying at night clubs in Las Vegas. While he was not disciplined for his actions, the league required six consecutive days of negative tests before he was cleared to practice.

The release of the video followed an altercation between Harden and rookie Jae'Sean Tate on Monday (December 21). The two were engaged in a heated exchange when Harden angrily threw a basketball at Tate.

Harden responded to the investigation on Instagram.

"One thing after another. I went to show love to my homegirl at her event (not a strip club) because she is becoming a boss and putting her people in position of success and now it's a problem," Harden wrote. "Every day it's something different. No matter how many times people try to drag my name under you can't. The real always end up on top."
