Here's something we don't get to see very often in the Mahoning Valley. Tonight, South Range travels to Leavittsburg to take on Labrae. I'm sure there are some wondering what the big deal is about a regular season game.
Here's the deal. Both teams are unbeaten. South Range is 21-0 and Labrae is 20-0. Both teams are ranked in the top six in the latest AP Poll. Labrae is #1 and South Range is #6. This is the final regular season game for both teams.
I have no rooting interest in this game, though I think whoever loses this game might have far less pressure on them come tournament time next week.
What I am rooting for is a rematch in a few weeks. For that to take place, South Range and Labrae would have to advance to the Regional Finals. Both teams would have to win five straight games in the tournament to make this rematch a reality. Here's hoping it happens...
